Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

My expectations were high but exploring the park blew them all away! It was absolutely stunning. The park is a series of dozens of terraced lakes connected by hundreds of waterfalls. The water is vibrantly turquoise and super clear because the water slowly calcifies any mud or debris and turns it to stone. The miles of wooden boardwalks take you right up to (and up and over and in between) the falls. It’s breathtaking. If you only go one place in Croatia, go here (and that’s saying a lot, because I loved the Dalmatia coast).

One of my favorite things was feeling the energy of the water rushing beneath my feet as the boardwalks took me up and over some of the smaller falls.

So beautiful!

Calcified logs and branches.

Hundreds of fish everywhere!

The color of the water was breathtaking.

The biggest waterfall in the park.

The view from a distance was almost as magnificent as the view from close-up.

I definitely will need to put this on the bucket list. I never traveled to see a waterfall like these before. Due to geographic location of where I’m from but I am hoping to visit one day.
