On June 22nd, I saw The Killers (my favorite band of all time) perform at Wembley Stadium near London. It was a stunning show. The Killers always blow me away live. The audience absolutely loves them, and you can tell they love being up there as well. They really put their all into every show. You can read a more eloquent review here.
Of course I loved When You Were Young – always absolutely crazy live. And I loved Miss Atomic Bomb, A Dustland Fairytale, Runaways, Read My Mind, Smile Like You Mean It, and lots more. [Setlist] But the two stand-outs of the night weren’t even songs from their albums.
First there was I Think We’re Alone Now, a cover of Tommy James and the Shondells, and one of my top favorite oldies. I sang along as loud as I dared. š A shaky video from Wembley is here, or you can watch a fun high-energy one (that smile!) from Dublin here, or you can watch a really high quality video from Anaheim here.
Later was Wembley Song, an adorable song they wrote just for this occasion. You could really feel how excited they were to be up on that stage. It was truly amazing to get to share that night with them.
Overall, it was an absolutely incredible night. I can’t wait to see them again. If you’re interested in some of my (bad) photos, see below.
