Preparing for Madrid

Madrid is three months away. I’m so excited it’s hard to contain. How many people get the chance to live and work in another country, let alone Europe? I know this is going to be something that changes the entire course of my life. And that’s a good thing!

Trying to imagine living there is kind of funny. On the one hand, it’s going to feel completely weird being in a brand new culture, barely knowing the language, not knowing hardly any one. Thinking about moving to Madrid kind of feels like thinking about moving to Mars. And yet, I realize I’m blowing it out of proportion. I adapt to new situations pretty well. I at least partially know the language, and many people in Madrid speak English. The culture will take getting used to but at a basic level all humans are very similar. I think it will be an interesting and fascinating learning curve that will allow me to grow in ways that would be impossible in this country.

I’m beginning the application for a visa, starting to look at plane tickets, etc.

This still feels a little surreal. I never in a million years thought I would get so lucky. I’m gonna make the most of it!
